| The
law relating to Admiralty matters in Fiji is still
derived from the English legislation. We have acted
in numerous matters where an “in rem”
arrest of vessel had to be made to secure payment
of claims for agency fees, wages, repairs and sale
of equipment. An arrest of a vessel and subsequent
proceedings are complicated and expensive litigation
requiring considerable skill and judgment on the
part of the counsel acting in the matter. |
